Did You Know?

Did you know? By beginning any sentence with this question you can make the reader read the whole paragraph, which in some cases proves to be nonsensical and mostly irrelevant. Like this one.

I believe most of us do know this fact but still choose to read. So what does this tell us about human psychology? That we're just another greedy mortals lurking around to grab any crap that passes through the dark alley of our minds.

Well, that went quite dark. So, these questions or phrases are little tricks people play with our minds to manipulate us. I believe you must have encountered a few in my previous posts.

So today I'll discuss 2 tricks of mind with y'all. The principle is that you instruct people to do a certain task, the outcome of which you already know. Then after they do the task, you show them in some way that you already knew what the outcome would be. Let's start:

I) 1 TO 4-

Aim: To make people believe you can read their minds.

Apparatus: A pen, a piece of paper.

Procedure: Take a pen and say these words... "I am going to write numbers from 1 to 4. You have to choose a number from these 1 to 4 numbers. Tell me when you're ready. Okay, now I'm writing from 1 to 4." Then write these numbers on the piece of paper you have. Hand over the pen to your lab rat and ask him/her to cancel one number from these four.

But before you go further, I'd like you to grab a piece of paper, write down the numbers from 1 to 4, and cancel one of them.

I'm not sure if this works with text, but when performed verbally, in person, this trick has an accuracy of about 70-75%.

If it works without my presence, your answer must be three.

In case the answer differs with your rat, ask them to cancel two more numbers and they may leave 3 as a last choice, Et Voilà! With this your accuracy increases to about 80%. 

How?: So how does this work? When you repeatedly say "1 to 4" you impress the numbers 1, 2 and 4 on the mind of you subject. So they accept 3 as a choice either by rejection or by selection

Finally you just have to keep 3 written behind or on another piece of paper to prove that you really did know their choice.
