You won't believe how you were tricked by this...

...Title. Yup!

You won't believe how you were tricked by this title, into clicking this post for practically no reason.

So now you can either go back to waste your time on Instagram or whatever OR you can stay here and waste your time... same difference 😊.

Well, after putting much efforts (read as none) into the study of clickbaits I've compiled this one on how to write a click-worthy title/description/heading. 'Tis not valorous to doth manipulative stuff for it bringeth misfortune to others and wastes their time, Shakespeare'd said (no he hadn't), But HEY! Guess What? It's fun!

"Be The Change You Want"

[P.S. I wanted to say 'To catch a thief, you first need to think like one' but couldn't find a short and smart alternative, so bear with me on this one and just co-relate if you find another totally unrelated proverb]

So what may be the reason we're always trapped by these clickbaits? TBH there're too many reasons to list, but they can be grouped up as some major 'Rationale'.
Let's explore a few of those-

Curiosity:
This is one big reason. Most of the tim you fall for your own trap. This mostly happens when someone reads an incomplete title or description or something that cannot be completely imagined by just reading a statement or description, so naturally we want to see more.

Belief/Disbelief:
People tend to read more about things that support their belief (To feel content and satisfied) or things that discard their beliefs (To protest). If you still doubt this, just name your next post (if you're a blogger) or something that has a link to it's content as 'Finally Scientific Proof found that God Exists!' and then just sit back and see those views pouring in like rain in Cherrapunji.

Challenge:
When was the last time you were fooled by someone saying that you were tricked by something mundane? Can't remember? Let me help you, just read the title again. No matter how clumsy someone is in real life, everyone feels like they're the 'Unchallengeable' king of their digital world.

Oddities:
People tend to believe and accept statements when they're presented in lists of odd numbers. This is called the odd number effect. Marketers use this psychological pricing techniques, as nowadays one can see that most products have an odd numbered price rather than a rounded off one.

Gossip:
You need a description?😂

So now that we have the ingredients, we can cook a good luncheon with them. Let's see how we can convert some Normies into Mavericks:-

1.a.) Normie: Have a look at these tough riddles.
1.b.) Maverick: Only people with IQ 150+ can solve these! Can you?

2.a.) Normie: Read an adventurer's account of hugging a Kangaroo.
2.b.) Maverick: This man tried to hug a Kangaroo. What happens next will blow your mind!

3.a.) Normie: Look at this collection of memes for students.
3.b.) Maverick: 11 hilarious memes that sum up your student life (Number 7 is gold)!!!

4.a.) Normie: 9 tips on keeping your skin healthy.
4.b.) Maverick: 9 secrets fashion giants have been hiding from you for a glowing skin!

The idea is to make your statement more intriguing, more engaging by adding hilarious, unbelievable, secret, you won't believe and similar phrases to communicate preciousness, importance, and exclusiveness to your articles.

The title/heading/description must convey uniqueness, gossip, general fear, suspicion, trickery or a sense of unsatisfaction. Make sure to provide the content that you promise in your title, or don't, why do I care. Have fun.

Also, now that you know it all, try not to fall for these again.
